Description

Tramadol (brand names include: Tramjet / Adolan / Anadol / Contramal / Dolol / Dolzam / Dromadol / Ixprim / Ralivia / Tramadex / Tramal / Tridural / Utram / Ultram ER / Zamadol / Zydol / Zytrim / Zendol-SR) is a pain relief medication that is meant to help alleviate moderate to moderately severe pain.

Tramadol is a synthetic analgesic, not an anti-inflammatory, which means that people who cannot take anti-inflammatories due to the side effects can often take Tramadol to help relieve their pain.

Tramadol does not have gastrointestinal side effects associated with NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).

Recommendations

Follow the directions for using Tramadol provided by your doctor. Take Tramadol exactly as directed. Do not take more medication as a single dose or take more doses per day than prescribed by your doctor.

Your doctor may start you on a low dose of Tramadol and gradually increase the amount of medication you take. Elderly people over 75 years of age may require a lower daily dose.

Swallow the tablets whole; do not split, chew, or crush them.

Do not stop taking Tramadol without talking to your doctor. Your doctor will probably decrease your dose gradually.

If you forget to take Tramadol, take your dose as soon as you remember and then go on as before. Do not take a double dose to make up for the forgotten dose.

Store this medicine at room temperature, away from heat and light.

Precautions

Before taking Tramadol, tell your doctor if:

you are allergic to Tramadol or other medicines;
you have had a head injury;
you are also taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors or other antidepressant drugs;
you have kidney or liver disease; epilepsy; or asthma;
you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

Ingredients

Active ingredient: tramadol hydrochloride.

Tramadol reviews/feedback

Anonym: Previous adverse effects from hydrocodone made Tramadol the drug of choice for pain relief after a complicated tooth extraction. I was very pleased to have adequate pain relief without the "fuzzy" feeling and slight nausea previously experienced with other prescription pain relievers.

Amanda: Tramadol moderately dulled the pain of a collar bone injury. Pain was still existent but I was so "dopey" that I didn't care.

Max UK: I currently take 100mg when I wake up then usually another 100mg in the afternoon. I try my hardest not to exceed this as the Tramadol makes me very tired and constipated i believe it also makes me itch. I do rely on this medication as I feel it does help my pain.

David: I have been taking this medication for about two years. At first it completely killed the pain and then gradually i have built a tolerence to it. The days that it works and feel good it is awesome but other days i wish i had other options. I like the fact that it is non narcotic and seems not as habit forming.

Jacob: I started taking Tramadol about 3 months ago for chronic pain in my knee, hips and especially my lower back due to over 26 years in the military. It allows me to be relativly free from pain and capable of doing things around my yard. I have expienced no side effects. If I stop taking it for a couple of days the pain returns. Before taking tramadol I was limited to 15 to 30 minutes of work and then I would be done for a couple of days to recuperate.

Anonym:Tramadol is a pain med that is helping. Im only taking about 12 of the total daily dose that I could take and it does seem to help more than antiinflammatories used to. Dry mouth and constipation are side effects but worth the inconvenience.

tramadol canada: have been prescribed Tramadol for the past 5 years and it has completly relieved my back pain. I have stopped a few times, but the pain returned. Initially I took 2 x 50mg tablets a day, but now need 3 x 50mg a day to get the same relief. I had a feeling of euphoria and some anxiety side effects during the 1st year, but now these have gone and I just get the pain relief. I do have mild withdrawal symptoms if I discontinue the Tramadol, which I do every few months for a few days. The withdrawal is in the form of anxiety and an uncomfortable feeling for a couple of days, but nothing that I can not easily put up with. Breaking the continuity of use for a few days is good to prevent more severe withdrawal I believe, but Tramadol is still the best and most effective pain reliever I have tried and I plan to continue using it.

Tramadol User Reviews

This is a new treatment so I may need to re visit my rating in a few weeks.

it made me sleepley but it killed the pain

I have been dealing with moderate to severe Osteoarthritis in my neck for almost 9 months. I tried Chiropractic help...it just made it worse. Have been going to Physical Therapy for 6 months and getting Massage Therapy for 4 months. Although the pain has decreased and I am learning to strengthen the muscles in my neck and shoulders the pain has continued. I was given this medication and finally I feel like I have my life back. I would recommend this for anyone with chronic pain. I am aware of it being addictive so only take 50mg twice a day at the most. It's enough to get me through the day.

I have spinal stenois, & knee pain.Over the past 2 years,I have spent over $5000.00 dollars out-of-pocket for decompression therapy, massages, and physical therapy.

I have only taken 2 Tramadol 50 mg pills so far, and notice that my current pain level on a scale of 1 to 10 is about a 1.

Tramadol should be called the miracel pain pill.
